Thunder
I love thunderstorms. But my favorite thunderstorm didn't happen on the high plains, it happens in the Book of Job, Chapter 38, which reads:
"Then the LORD answered Job out of the storm.
He said:
“Who is this that darkens my counsel
with words without knowledge?
Brace yourself like a man;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.
“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
Tell me, if you understand.
Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone—
while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels shouted for joy?”
When the thunder rolls, I get a little bit of that feeling right there! I remember who I’m not, and I remember who God is.
Do the wise thing, ladies and gentlemen, and feel small today. Acknowledge God for everything that He is, and trust Him for everything you're not.
